Transport Mervielde joins forces with Sustacon to develop its sustainability strategy
Through this collaboration, Mervielde aims to make a long-term commitment coupled with an action plan that a project team will closely monitor.
"We cannot deny that the transport sector significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, we also want to take responsibility for neutralizing our environmental impact. The collaboration with Sustacon, an experienced partner in this, fits into our People-Planet-Profit strategy where these three pillars should reinforce each other," says Patrick Mervielde, managing director of Mervielde.
Hans Verboven (CEO of Sustacon and Professor of the Sustainability University of Antwerp): "To me, Transport Mervielde is a perfect example of how transport companies are taking responsibility, of their own accord and on their own, to reduce their carbon footprint. This is through targeted process improvements and investments and by pioneering new technologies and alternative fuels."
An annual update will be provided to make the projects' evolution transparent to stakeholders.
